Subject: Urgent: Damage to Truck During Transport Immediate Resolution Requested
Dear to all parties,
We are writing this message with deep frustration and disappointment. After battling for over two and a half months to have our truck repaired and delivered, we are now faced with new damages caused during its transport to the Michigan dealership.
The truck was originally towed on April 5, 2025, to the dealership in Melbourne, FL for repairs.
It was returned to Michigan by a driver named Jose, as indicated on the pink delivery form, which also appears to be signed by someone named "V. Coul" (though the signature is unclear).
Upon inspection, we discovered the following issues:
Bent tonneau covers
Roof damage, which was not visible until Saturday, June 7, 2025, as we were washing and waxing it.
This truck was in excellent conditionwell-maintained, clean, and a source of pride for us. Seeing it returned in this state has been heartbreaking. We have endured sleepless nights, elevated stress levels, and emotional distress due to this ongoing ordeal.
Our dealership has agreed to pick up the truck on Monday to address the brake issues, the damaged tonneau cover, and now the roof.
However, we are no longer willing to accept temporary fixes. We are requesting one of the following resolutions:
A replacement vehicle of equal value and condition, or
A full payout for the value of the truck
We also have a pre-booked trip beginning June 18, and we are now left without a reliable vehicle. This situation must be resolved immediately.
Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss a fair and final resolution. We are exhausted by this process and simply want to move forward.
Im writing to provide an update and express our continued concerns regarding the delivery and condition of our vehicle, as well as the lack of clarity and support throughout this process.
On June 4, 2025, we received an email around 11:00 a.m. informing us that our truck had been delivered to the dealership in Michigan. We had taken the day off work in anticipation, but spent most of it waiting for ERL to contact us. We eventually left Kitchener for Michigana 2.5-hour driveonly to be delayed over an hour at the border due to construction.
Upon arrival, we spoke with Danny Mudgridge, who informed us that he had not been notified immediately of the trucks delivery.
The vehicle was located at the back of the lot. We informed him we would be leaving around 1:30 p.m. Danny mentioned he was attempting to clean the truck but noted an issue with the tunnel cover. When the truck was finally brought to us, the first thing my husband Greg noticed was that the tunnel cover was bent out of shape on the drivers side, and a piece of molding was loose on the right side.
Danny also shared that communication with ERL has been difficult, as he rarely receives callbacks.
I left a voicemail for ERL around 4:30 p.m. to report the damage. We have taken photos and will be forwarding them to you.
At the border, we encountered further issues due to the lack of documentation in the vehicle regarding the repairs. A Canadian border agent had to review Gregs phone to verify our communications with GM and confirm the truck was ready for pickup.
This lack of paperwork is unacceptable.
Additionally, Greg noticed that the brakes are not functioning properly, adding to our concerns about the vehicles condition. He emailed ERL the photos of the damage and left another message. ERL later returned the call and stated he was unsure who would be responsible for the tunnel cover damage. We want to be clear: we will not accept responsibility for this damage.
We also followed up on the reimbursement for our flight, car rental, and the $500 service credit previously discussed.
ERL has now claimed the credit was only $200, contradicting earlier statements. We requested written confirmation of what ERL has submitted to GM for reimbursement. He mentioned speaking with Dave Ross at John Bears dealership in New Hamburg, ON, and that a cheque would be sent to cover our travel and rental expenses. He also said he discussed the tunnel cover damage and would follow up after inspection.
Greg has scheduled an appointment at John Bears for this coming Monday to inspect the brakes, assess the warranty work, and evaluate the delivery damage.
We have incurred additional out-of-pocket expenses for:
Travel to and from the U.S.
Fuel costs
Bridge tolls (both directions)
Use of a second vehicle for pickup
I will total these expenses and provide a breakdown in a follow-up email about cost to the USA.
Lastly, ERL mentioned that GM was doing us a favor by delivering the truck to Michigan.
We did not request this favorour transmission failed, and weve been without our truck for over two and a half months.
While we appreciate the loaner vehicle provided for 54 days, this situation has been far from acceptable.
Its worth noting that both the Florida and Michigan dealerships have been exceptional in their service. They answered calls, followed up as promised, and kept us informedsomething we cannot say for the rest of this experience.
Before this file is closed, we request the following:
Full reimbursement for all travel-related expenses has been provided
Written confirmation of the service credit amount and its application.
A clear resolution regarding responsibility for the tunnel cover and molding damage.
Documentation of all repairs performed on the vehicle.
Inspection and repair of the brake system and extended warranty for the new transmission as the same parts that were the cause of the recall where replaced.
We look forward to your prompt response and resolution of these outstanding issues.
Thank you.
Greg and Maria Roth

now i have a Transmission Control Module GM (1943****) failure.

Preferred solution: Honour the complaint, fix the issues and teach sales mngr and floor staff to remember word goes along ways great service will sell more, shady sales will sell nothing

Verified Reviewer |2016 GMC Sierra 5.3L Valve Lifter Failure Associated with AFM
I have been a GMC person all my life but because of a recent failure at 130,000 km of a valve lifters on the passenger side bank due to the automatic fuel management system costing $4000 coupled with an oil pump failure at 110,00 km costing over $2000 I will never purchase another GMC product. The reliability of the vehicles (2016 Sierra 1500) specially the 5.3L engine that at one time was probably the best engine made has gone downhill fast.
All the added bells and whistle have killed the engine reliability. Getting 200,000 km from a vehicle/engine should not require major repairs. I understand things like starter, alternator, brakes and battery will require replacement, but this vehicle has not been driven hard and well maintained so two major engine repairs is not acceptable at this mileage.
The issue with the valve lifters and AFM system is well known and something GMC has not done anything about. For these reasons GMC has lost a customer for life.
- Nice looking vehicle
- Poor reliability because to many features like afm

Verified ReviewerIt cost me $5,000 can because of GM’s inability to fast track a part and were not able to track the part.
The following is a list or reasons why I feel General Motors needs to bare the expense incurred in this situation, the failure of the turbocharger cooling tube on my 2019 Canyon turbo diesel.
1. The part which failed was not available at the Flagstaff dealership and was only available from the GM parts warehouse in Reno Nevada.
2. We offered three times to pay the expense to expedited the shipping of the part to the Flagstaff dealership from the GM parts warehouse in Reno by air, FedEx, Purolator or DHL. The Flagstaff dealer and GM turned us every time.
3. GM’s inability to track the part from the GM parts warehouse in Reno and were not able to give us a clear delivery date. The part did not arrive until 13 days after it was ordered. Had we known the part would be in Flagstaff on a specific date we would have stayed in Flagstaff until the part arrived and the truck was fixed. As it was the dealership could not tell us when it would be there.
4. This vehicle is under full warranty and only has 13890 kms.
Here is a summary of events leading up to these excessive expenses.
On March 17 this year, my wife and I were driving home back to Canada from Phoenix, Arizona.
We were 20 miles south of Page, Arizona when the charger cooler tube on the turbo unit failed.
We called AAA and had the truck and our trailer towed back to the nearest GM dealership, which was in Flagstaff.
We met with the Service Advisor the next day, Wednesday March 18, and by 11 am the part was found at the GM parts depot in Reno Nevada and would be at the Flagstaff dealership 6 days later on Monday March 23.
Because we were concerned the Canada/US border was closing, and with the excessive amount of time it was going to take to ship the part to the dealer, we offered three times to pay for the expense to expedited the shipping of the part to the Flagstaff dealership from the GM parts warehouse in Reno by air, FedEx, Purolator or DHL.
The Flagstaff dealer and GM turned us down every time.
Please note Reno is just over 700 miles (1132 kms) from Flagstaff.
The parts did not arrive on Monday March 23.
We met again with the Service Manager on Monday but were told the parts had not arrived and would not arrive until Wednesday March 25.
On Wednesday March 25 the part still did not arrive.
The Flagstaff dealership said the parts were some where between Reno and Flagstaff and that GM did not have the ability to track any part.
They said the parts may arrive Monday March 30.
At this point we decided to rent a truck ($2000 US) and tow our trailer back to Canada. Again both the US and Canadian Governments were threatening to close the borders.
We left Thursday morning March 26 after stopping by the dealership one last time to see if the parts had arrived.
The part still had not arrived.
The part finally arrived Monday March 30, 13 days after the part was ordered and the truck repaired Tuesday March 31.
Because the border between Canada and US now remains closed, the only way I could get the truck back was to have it shipped back into Canada is by a commercial transport company.
The Flagstaff dealership said GM might offer to pay for the transport of the truck between Flagstaff and Great Falls Montana.
I offered to pay for the remaining transport between Great Falls and Calgary.
Again GM declined.
My total bill to transport the truck from the Flagstaff dealership to Lethbridge Canada was $1350 US, ($1995 Can).
Cole Internationals charges for inter-border documents was $150 Can.
So I have spent over $5000 Canadian on a part that maybe worth $100 all because GM didnt have the required part at the dealership, could not track the part from their warehouse in Reno and give us a clear delivery date, and would not let us pay to have the part fast-tracked from the warehouse in Reno to the dealership in Flagstaff.
I finally picked up my truck today May 11, 2020 from the Davis GMC dealership in Lethbridge.
I sent in all of my expenses to GM Customer Service Canada and havent heard back from them so I assume they dont plan to reimburse me for my expenses.
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don’t by GM vehicles
I Have a lemon
I pretty sure I can prove a case of purchasing a lemon from Chevy. I purchased a New 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500.
Ever since I got this vehicle I had nothing but problems. I would get a check engine light on in my vehicle. At first I thought it could be I didn't screw my gas cap on tight enough. But the light stayed on.
Then my car went in a low power mode where I could only drive a certain speed. I took it to the shop and I was told nothing was wrong with my vehicle. So they reset the computer, charged me a fee and sent me on my way. I experienced the exact same thing shortly after.
A check engine light and reduced power. So I took t back to the dealer and was told that my ECM needed to be changed. This was while my vehicle was still under warranty. But the catch was their were no EMC available and my car sat for a month or more with no sign of the part coming in.
That was very odd to not be able to get a part for a car that was manufactured by the same people supposedly fixing my Truck. But when I let the low power mode turned off and I was able to drive it regularly. The part still never came and I had to make a living so I worked my truck. Shortly after that the low power mode kicked in again.
Frustrated with The dealer I took it to another shop. I was told by the shop that the truck needed a regen to clean the exhaust filter. That cost me $1,000. It work for a little while then back to low power mode.
Paid another $1,000. That seemed to work so I took a work related trip to Reno Nevada. The low power mode kicked in and I was forced to stay in Reno Nevada for a week in a motel spending money I didn't have to get the vehicle fixed. The Chevy dealership worked on my vehicle and I was told I was good to go everything was fixed.
After paying another
$2,000 only to drive 100 miles and had to turn around and take it back so they could fake fix my truck again. It worked for two months only to have the TCM go bad. I paid $1,000 or so to get the TCM changed. Shortly after that the low power mode kicked in and now that my truck if out of the warranty the dealer is able to find everything that is wrong with my truck and the bill is totaling $4,000.
I complained about the bill and HQ offered to pay half of the bill but I haven't been able to work because my truck has been broke more then it's been fixed. I have no money to fix it. It would be less frustrating if I was able to work and put some money up. My truck is only four years old and it shouldn't have these problems.
Regular maintenance and oil changes done to this truck. I feel I can prove a lemon law violation and I have contacted the proper lawyers for the job who are reviewing my records now. I hope I can resolve this issue which ever way it goes. Im not complaining about unrelated issues but things that are related to why I bought my truck in in the first place.
The check engine light, the reduced power mode, ECM.
Not for springs or rear end. But the motor.
- Misdianose a problem so the warranty can run out
Preferred solution: Fix my vehicle
Horrible Experience
Purchase a brand new 2019 Buick Envision at 1754km the engine light went on. Brought it in they advised me it was a glitch.
Less than a week later at 1800KM the engine light went back on. They advised me theyhad fixed the issue. I left the dealership and drove 5km to have the engine light go back on. They advised me they feel confident they fixed the issue.
I continued to tell them I felt unsafe, basically they told me I had to return the rental car and pick mine up.
After picking up my car prior to leaving the lot I noticed a big dent and scratch on my passenger door. The executive team advised me to either go through insurance or talk to the general manager of the dealership.
I wanted to go through the buy pack program they advised me I do not qualify.
DO NOT BUY GM Vehicles and do not go to Addison GM on Eglinton in Mississauga.
*** poor warranty work
have a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado with the 6.2 engine had to take it in for repairs as motor started rattling dealer found and replaced bent push rod and roller lifter picked it up and put less than 1200kms on it and engine consumed 1/2 liter of oil and had a light intermittent knock in bottom end returned to dealership they kept it over night cold started it and said they could not get it to repeat the knock sound so sent it home 1km from dealership ive recorded the engine noises as well but I took it home and knock returned so took it straight back to dealershp and service manager heard the noise so left it there again day later they tell me a bad camshaft is causing this issue now its 2 weeks in the shop to replace camshaft because they dont stock the camshafts in canada they have to get them from usa but im still going to have the issue of the engine using oil when i get the truck back so it will wind up going back to dealership to resolve that issue instead of replacing the engine second time into shop so i will be left with out a truck for who knows how long again they gave us a courtesy vehicle to use while truck is in shop but why not a truck to use instead of a *** pot suv weve bought nothing but trucks from them every 2yrs for last 22yrs we purchased a new truck from same dealership and in the last 2yrs weve purchased 3 brand new pick ups and not impressed with chevrolet anymore starting to think about changing brands of vehicles now as this patch this and patch that attitude toards warranty work is not what i like fix it properly the first time if the oil consumption issue is not dealt with accordingly it will be the last product purchased from gm canada as for loaners while in for repairs customer should get option of a truck or suv car as now that the truck is in the shop again it cost me money to rent a truck to haul my trailer and for work
No road hazard warranty on 2015 silverado with 34000kms
tire pressure monitor started to come on 3 weeks ago checked tire pressure all at specs had to keep dismissing it upon start up so I made an appointment to get repaired, before my appt I got a flat on the opposite side tire so upon my visit to the dealership was advised by an arrogant service advisor at the dealership I was advised GM would not cover the replacement at a prorated settlement .found out that that the salesman that sold the truck to the first owner registered the warranty in his own name not in the previous owners name so the previous owner would not be covered also this is the 3rd GM vehicle I have owned and even a small issue will not be covered half the time. my friend just purchased a 2018 ford p/u that is very nice, comfortable and fuel efficient and yes he got a road hazard warranty no more GM vehicles coming in my household imagine if the engine blew up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! by by!
